Emrys Owen Roberts was born at Caernarfon in 1910 and graduated from the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth and Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. He served in the RAF during the Second World War. He was called to the bar at Grays Inn in 1944 and served as the Liberal Member of Parliament for Merionethshire between 1945 and 1951 when he was defeated. He was Chairman of the Development Board for Rural Wales between 1977 and 1981, and a member of a very large number of other public bodies in Wales. He died in October 1990.
