David David Williams, Calvinistic Methodist minister and author, was born at Croesor, Merioneth. He was ordained in 1891 and ministered at Ffestiniog (1890-1896), Oswestry (1896-1906), Manchester (1906-1915) and Liverpool (1915-1938). He was a prominent figure in the Calvinistic Methodist movement and served as Moderator for the North Wales Association in 1931. From 1930 to 1934 Williams edited The Journal of the Historical Society of the Presbyterian Church in Wales. An assiduous researcher, he was a regular competitor at the National Eisteddfod - many of his essays, mainly on literary and historical topics, published by the National Eisteddfod Society - and contributed to numerous Welsh periodicals. His several published works also focus largely on literary, cultural and historical subjects.
