John Evans (d. 1949) of Tre-boeth, Pembrokeshire, had a shop and three houses built for himself at Vergam Terrace, Fishguard in 1907. He was a composer, eisteddfodwr and music shop proprietor. He was appointed as an examiner for the Tonic Solfa College in 1891. His daughter, Mali Evans (d. 1991), continued to live at Vergam Terrace and was active in Cymdeithas Cymry Ariannin ym Mhrydain and Undeb Cymry ar Wasgar, and corresponded with a number of Welsh composers and historians of the time.
