Mrs Mary Garbett Edwards, OBE (1893-1986), was a Liberal Party agent in Montgomeryshire, and a prominent public servant. She was the election agent for Clement Davies (1884-1962), Liberal MP for Montgomeryshire, and Emlyn Hooson (b. 1962), Liberal MP (now Lord Hooson). She was chairman of Montgomeryshire County Council Education Committee, and vice-chairman of the Council in 1973. She occasionally contributed to radio programmes. Her husband, Garbett Edwards (died 1942), was chief financial secretary to Lord Davies of Llandinam. Their son, D. Peter Garbett-Edwards, was Secretary of the Mid-Wales Industrial Development Association, 1957-1977. | |||
