Dorothy Taylor, née Sylvester, was born in 1906. She was a Senior Lecturer and reader in Geography at the University of Manchester from 1944 until 1966. In 1969, her work The Rural Landscape of the Welsh Borderland was published, followed by A History of Gwynedd in 1983.
