Griffith Evans (Q62592)

Griffith Evans (1835-1935) was a bacteriologist and a pioneer in research into parasitology. Griffith Evans's home was Tynmawr, Towyn, Merionethshire, and he later attended the Royal Veterinary College in London, 1854-1855. Before working in Canada at Mc Gill University, 1861-1864, he was a veterinary surgeon at Woolwich. In 1870, he returned to Britain and lived in Ipswich for some years. From 1877-1885 he did research in India, where he discovered the first pathological trypanosome now known as Trypanosoma Evansi in Surra in 1880. In 1890 he settled in Brynkynallt, Bangor, where he became lecturer at the University College's Agricultural Department until 1910. He gave lectures on medical subjects largely connected with Christian Healing.
